Support Workers

 

We currently have vacancies for experienced afternoon shift (3:00pm – 11:00pm), awake night shift (11:00pm to 7:00am) and Casual Support Workers.

At Pukeko Blue Ltd we have a long history of providing the best possible standard of care to our Service Users. Within the community we have houses located across Christchurch who all work towards our gold standard of care. We were established in 2001 and strive to ensure our service users are living in an environment of respect, dignity, compassion, safety and skill.  We are currently looking for staff who can maintain this gold level of care.

To succeed within this role, we want to ensure you are aware of what this role entails. First and foremost, as a Support Worker we rely on you to treat our Service Users with respect, dignity, and compassion. Some of our Service Users live with an intellectual disability, mental health or dual diagnosis. This means that they require a gold standard level of care. We want to ensure they are living in a homely environment where they can work towards recovery and the lifestyle choice of their own.

 

 Do you currently have?

  • A full, current New Zealand driver’s licence
  • The flexibility to work rotational rostered shifts
  • New Zealand residency or a valid New Zealand work visa with a minimum of 12 months
  • A current First Aid Certificate (preferable but not essential)
  • NZQA Health & Wellbeing Level 3 or relevant equivalent qualification

We want to ensure your transition into the Pukeko Blue team is as smooth as possible, that’s why we require people who are, self-starters and quick learners to apply for this role, whilst full training will be given (including a medication competency module) we want you to be able to move into this role comfortably, we would like for you to have had some experience within the Support Worker field.

 

What we ask from you:

  • You are able to follow and adhere to Service User care plans and behaviour crisis risk plans.
  • You are able to support and encourage Service Users in gathering information to make informed choices.
  • You can implement, develop and review individual social and recreational wellbeing plans.
  • Comfortable in administering medication according to policy and procedure.
